Normandie

We were in Normandy for the weekend. It's such a lovely region with beautiful views (cliffs!), idyllic villages, excellent food & drinks,...

First we went to Honfleur which is located in Calvados. That was a suitable place to start the trip. There were quite a few English tourists and many shop-keepers spoke fluent English. There are many art galleries to see, in addition to the old buildings and the harbour.

The day after we continued to Etretat to see the famous cliffs. Unfortunately the weather was quite bad and we were discovering the cliffs in a rain. Nevertheless, the views were breathtaking...

We stayed the second night in a tiny village near to Saint-Valery-en-Caux and had the dinner in this city. The day after we were advised to visit another small village called Veules les Roses. That was yet another idyllic Normandy village: there were so many cute houses that we had almost an overdose of them! This is one of the houses:

Both in Veules les Roses and St-Valery-en-Caux the fishermen come to sell the fish and crabs in the harbour. The fresh fish is guaranteed!

On the way back we stopped to see the 'best views' of the Albatross coast and the castle of Dieppe.
